Plan Overview
The City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County (C/CAG) is excited to unveil its inaugural Strategic Plan. Covering the period from 2024 to 2029, this plan outlines a definitive and actionable roadmap for C/CAG. It focuses on key areas that impact the quality of life throughout San Mateo County. With specific goals, strategic initiatives, and robust partnerships, C/CAG is dedicated to fostering positive change, tackling both present and future challenges, and ensuring a resilient and thriving future for all communities in the County.
Plan Goals
The Strategic Plan outlines five key goals, each accompanied by ongoing responsibilities, specific objectives, and performance measures:
- Transportation: Plan, fund, implement, and maintain a robust multimodal transportation system that is safe, connected, equitable, accessible, and environmentally sustainable
- Stormwater Management: Manage stormwater as a resource, meet Regional Stormwater Permit requirements, and reduce climate risk through promotion of green infrastructure and an integrated watershed management approach
- Energy, Environment, and Climate: Support water and energy conservation efforts and improve environmental quality and community resilience to climate change throughout San Mateo County.
- Land Use and Airport Compatibility: Meet the County’s housing and economic development goals while addressing airport safety impacts.
- Finance and Administration: Secure adequate funding and maintain effective organizational systems to support C/CAG’s mission.
Plan Timeline
- Phase 1 (Dec 2023 – Feb 2024): Established clear shared outcomes for the process and pinpointed the key issues and priorities for C/CAG’s future focus.
- Phase 2 (Feb- Apr 2024): Refined and clarified the organization’s vision, mission, and core values, and established strategic goals for the next five years.
- Phase 3 (May 2024): Formulated strategies to achieve these goals and established performance measures to track progress and milestones along the way.
- Phase 4 (Aug – Oct 2024): Complete the draft and final plan.
Ways to Get Involved!
Outreach for the C/CAG Strategic Plan involved gathering input from a diverse group of stakeholders, including C/CAG staff, management, the Board, and community partners. This collaborative approach ensured that the plan reflects a broad range of perspectives and needs.
