San Bruno/South San Francisco Community Based Transportation Plan

The City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) of San Mateo County is developing a Community-Based Transportation Plan, and we can’t do it without you. The Plan is focused on portions of these communities that have been identified as “Equity Priority Areas”, as depicted in the Study Area map.

What are the main challenges of mobility? What are the key locations and community resources that people need to access? Tell us about your experience in this survey.

We need a broad range of community-members to provide their ideas and experiences. You can help us decide which transportation improvements are most important— paratransit, sidewalks, roadways, transit, policies, programs, or something else. We’re addressing the transportation challenges people face, specifically in areas that need more investment.

With your input, the C/CAG can improve mobility for everyone who travels in and around these areas. The plan we build together will lay out costs, funding needs, and strategies to make it happen.

Improving Transportation in our Region
The C/CAG is looking for ways to improve transportation. We are working with community members and local organizations in San Bruno and South San Francisco to learn what will help the most. Areas the final plan will address are:

  • Safety: Improving safety, increasing comfort, and reducing (or eliminating) crashes
  • Transit: Making transit easier to use and more comfortable
  • Bike, Walk and Roll: Building connections for biking and walking
  • Air Quality: Reducing traffic congestion and improve air quality
  • Economic Opportunity: Supporting access to jobs and economic vitality
  • Information: Sharing information about transit and transportation

How does a CBTP help improve local public transportation?
The San Bruno/South San Francisco CBTP focuses on Equity Priority Communities (EPCs) in the county. Funding and transportation improvements can make a huge difference for residents in those areas.

A completed CBTP will include:

  • An analysis of the demographics and existing transportation resources for EPC areas.
  • A list of transportation concerns, ranked in the community’s order of importance
  • Key strategies to resolve current issues and improve service
  • Cost estimates and potential funding sources for implementing strategies
  • Community partners to help implement improvements
  • Documentation of our community engagement activities
  • A monitoring and reporting component to track progress on plan implementation

Investing in Equity Priority Communities (EPCs)

The C/CAG invests in EPCs to reverse long-standing disparities. These areas have a significant concentration of underserved populations, like households with low incomes, people of color, and a combination of additional factors. Our intent is to provide EPCs access to safe and reliable transportation, housing and other community services.
